Monique Arnold is a woman origination from Saint John, NB. She is a woman of the wind, changing in whatever way she please at whatever time she chooses. Currently, studying textiles at NBCCD, she hopes to be able to start her own business in the craft. Her educational choices are made with her business in mind. After NBCCD, Monique is looking at studying Psychology as people and the human mind intrigue her.
With her first experience of textiles at NBCCD, Monique was heavily attracted to felting. “It’s warm, durable and the results are useful, but are pleasing to the eye at the same time,” she said while in the midst of discussion one evening. Most of the work she has been doing has been pieces that are more useful – boots, hats, vessels- but she hopes to begin working on more sculptural felting.
There are more things than can be listed that spark ideas and that are inspiration to her. She likes to gather animal skulls so she can draw them at a later time. Color is a big portion of who she is. This can be easily seen as Monique changes her hair style and color on an almost semi-regular basis. Not only does she love color, but she also enjoys spending time hanging out with her friends and her cat.
